Family Works, Inc.Chaniya is an amazing young lady in foster care, who has faced some tough times but still manages to keep a positive attitude. Chaniya has a great spirit and is always ready to take on new challenges. She is a natural advocate for herself and has a lot of energy, which helps her get along well with other children. Chaniya loves to be involved in her community and takes part in many activities such as gymnastics, basketball, swimming, after-school programs, dance, and church. She's a real star!
Chaniya wants to attend the Teen Summit this year in April at the Kalahari. A gift card will aid her in doing this. The annual Teen Summit is End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin’s most extensive training, bringing youth, parents, educators, activists, and mentors from all over Wisconsin to learn about healthy relationships, teen dating violence, and sexual assault within a larger anti-oppression framework. The summit includes educational and enthusiastic plenary speakers, youth-led workshops, and topic-related performances. The theme this year is ‘rEVOLutionary ACTS.’ This event will provide Chaniya with workshops to attend that will help her work through and process her trauma. She will connect with other youth who share a similar story and hear from speakers who will provide encouragement. Chaniya has been struggling with a few emotional challenges, and this event will hopefully help with some of the issues she is experiencing at her age.
