NM CYFD - Dona Ana CountyLia has been in state custody for a few years as her parents relinquished their rights. She found herself aging out of the system with no natural support. Lia moved into an independent living program and successfully graduated high school and maintained a full-time job at the same time.
Lia graduated from high school in May and is now in an independent living program to help her with housing and life skills. She is currently in college and needs access to a computer to do her homework at home. With this assistance, she will be able to achieve her educational goals and take the next steps in her career path. Lia has been working on learning independent living skills such as budgeting, cleaning, cooking, maintaining work and school schedules, and transportation. She is now studying criminology in college and is seeking assistance with obtaining a computer to support her educational goals.
