A dorm fridge for Mariah to keep her favorite foods on hand

Mariah, 19 years old, MO

Mariah entered foster care after a family member dropped her and her siblings off at a shelter and never returned. The first year was particularly challenging for her, but she eventually found a supportive family that helped her turn her life around. Since then, Mariah has graduated high school and begun her journey in college, pursuing a degree in criminal justice. Her ultimate goal is to attend law school and become a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) who genuinely advocates for children in the foster care system. With dedication and hard work, she is committed to making her dreams a reality and positively impacting the lives of future foster kids.

When Mariah moved into her dorm, she was given a tiny fridge that lacked a freezer. This limitation frustrated her, as she longed to stock up on her favorite foods and cook in her room. Seeking a solution, Mariah requested assistance in obtaining a larger fridge that could accommodate more than just six bottles of water. Spending most of her time in her room to manage her anxiety, she found comfort and focus in her studies, making a functional fridge essential for her well-being and academic success.
