CEDARS Youth ServicesIris is a young lady who was removed from her mother’s care and has only been in the United States for a short time. She has had to adapt quickly to the culture and rules of the country after becoming a ward of the state. Iris loves fashion, Hello Kitty, and the color pink. She is a caring, intelligent, and resilient girl. Iris has also expressed interest in biking, boxing, Folklorico dancing, and soccer.
Iris has recently opened up about her desire for a bike, a yearning sparked during her visit to a vibrant festival in Lincoln. As she explored the festival, she couldn't help but notice the enticing bike trails highlighted on a map and the joy radiating from the riders gliding effortlessly along the paths. Captivated by the energy around her, she found herself imagining the freedom a bike could bring. While it remains uncertain whether she has ever owned a bicycle in her home country, the idea of having one now feels like a beacon of hope. For the past few months, Iris has been on a deeply personal journey of healing from her past traumas. A bike represents more than just a mode of transport; it symbolizes a step towards reclaiming her independence, embracing adventure, and reconnecting with the world in a way that is both invigorating and liberating.
