Kay is a sweet girl who has been a victim of domestic violence. She and her mother had to relocate to escape her abusive father. Despite her young age, Kay is wise beyond her years due to having to be a support system for her mother. She also suffers from anxiety and PTSD. Despite her present situation, Kay is extremely resilient, and given time, she will heal. She just needs the opportunity to be a little girl.

Kay and her mom are in urgent need of some groceries while they wait for her food stamps to be renewed. Currently, they are running low on food and rely on community food banks when the local church is open. Unfortunately, without transportation, Kay must walk long distances with her mom to get the help they need. Her mom has been advised by her food stamp case manager to wait two more weeks for an update on her application. With cold weather on the horizon, this small family faces the dilemma of having limited food options. It would be a tremendous blessing for them to have some assistance in purchasing groceries to help stretch their meals until they receive news from the local office. Granting this wish would not only provide them with food for the holiday but also spare them the hardship of walking long distances and standing in long lines in the cold.
