Jose's favorite color is red. He has a deep love for animals and once had a bird as a pet. In addition to this, Jose is incredibly creative and enjoys painting and drawing. He is also an Unaccompanied Refugee Minor (URM). He came to the United States when he was 11 years old and spent several months in a detention facility before being moved to a foster group home in California. Originally from Guatemala, Jose is painfully shy but has managed to learn some English. Recently, Jose's legal status changed, requiring him to move to Texas. He is very sad to have left everything behind once again.

Jose eagerly anticipates his annual fishing trip with his grandpa, a cherished tradition that brings them closer together. Each year, they embark on their adventure, casting lines into serene waters and hoping for a bountiful catch. This Christmas, Jose is dreaming of receiving some new fishing tackle—shiny lures, sturdy rods, and colorful bait—that would not only enhance his fishing experience but also make their time together even more memorable. The thought of unwrapping these special gifts fills him with excitement, as he imagines the moments they will share and the stories they will tell while waiting for the fish to bite.
