Juliana was eight when her life changed dramatically after her parents were deported, placing her in foster care. She moved from home to home in multiple placements, feeling increasingly lost and disconnected from her culture. The unfamiliar food and absent traditions left her feeling lonely and out of place. After years of searching for a sense of belonging, Juliana is finally with a foster family that understands and embraces her. They make an effort to connect with her background by preparing familiar meals and celebrating her traditions. For the first time, Juliana feels safe and accepted, shedding the weight of isolation for a sense of comfort and belonging.
