Essence lost her mother at a young age and moved between different family members until her early adolescence, when she came to the attention of the foster care system. She has always been reserved, self-reliant, and mature beyond her years. After aging out of the system and participating in extended foster care, she evolved into a social and community-oriented young adult. Essence enjoys driving around Los Angeles in her car, spending time with friends, braiding and styling their hair, and finding creative ways to express herself.

As she transitions into adulthood, she is excited to finally have her own bedroom. As she personalizes her space, she hopes to get her first TV to make it feel more homey and cozy.
