Justin has been in the foster care system since kindergarten, enduring over 24 different placements. He’s been shuffled from home to home, never finding stability, never truly belonging. The system has failed him, leaving him institutionalized and struggling to trust that anyone will stay. Like so many kids in his situation, he has tried to take control the only way he knew how—by running. But instead of finding safety, he ended up in a locked facility for his own protection.

Justin longs to hear his siblings’ voices, but phone calls from his facility cost money—money he doesn’t have. Right now, his only connection to family is through these calls, and without them, he feels even more alone. A commissary fund for phone time would allow Justin to stay in touch with the people who mean the most to him, giving him a lifeline to the outside world and a reminder that he still belongs somewhere.
