Alexa has witnessed her mother and father come in and out of prison throughout her life. Despite this, she still loves her family and is determined to study law, inspired by her experiences as a witness to her parents' ongoing struggles with the criminal court system. Alexa is currently a straight-A student and was recently placed on the Dean's List at Santa Monica City College. If she can obtain a scholarship, she plans to pursue a law degree at Pepperdine University.

This book has been pivotal in the program work being done and having the chance to own a copy is something that the group has said they would love. Reading this impactful book will greatly benefit them as they strive for independence.
