Mattie was taken into foster care because her parents struggled with addiction. She is a smart, kind, sweet, and funny girl who has been through a lot. Now, she is preparing to be reunified with her father, who has made significant efforts to get sober. He hasn't missed a visit with her and is doing everything he can to be the best father possible.

Mattie is so excited that she's reuniting with her father! While he has managed to save up and get her bedroom furniture for their new apartment, he currently does not have enough money for a desk. This is very important to Mattie because she loves to learn and excels in school. She was recently selected to represent her class in a math competition, where she won first place. Having a desk will help Mattie keep up with her studies and continue to excel in school!
