Von entered foster care as a young teenager and encountered several behavioral challenges while in the system. Recently, he has shared that he is entering a more positive phase in his life, determined to make a change. His focus is on completing his senior year of high school, making new friends, and he has discovered a passion for both school sports and mechanical work.

Von is looking for a mini engine to enhance his transportation options for getting to school and practice. His strong interest in mechanics and engineering could benefit his future career, and right now, he needs a reliable way to commute after flipping his jeep, which is currently non-functional. Living in rural Michigan, where public transport is limited, Von has decided to use a go-kart for his transportation needs. Since he runs track, riding the bus isn't a feasible option due to practice times. Fortunately, he already has a go-kart frame, but it requires a new engine because the old one is beyond repair. Using the go-kart presents a creative solution to his transportation challenges, offering a temporary way to get around while he continues saving money from his job to eventually fix his jeep. He is also well aware of the regulations regarding go-kart use and plans to utilize the rails-to-trails paths, which are similar to bike paths, ensuring safe travel.
