Shauneace is a third-year psychology student at California State University, Long Beach. Her decision to major in psychology stems from a deep, personal passion for understanding and supporting adolescents—especially those who, like her, have faced the hardships of growing up in underserved communities. Having entered the foster care system at the age of three, Shauneace has navigated a life marked by uncertainty, resilience, and the courage to keep moving forward. Those experiences have shaped her into someone who not only dreams of change but actively works toward it.

This fall, Shauneace has been given an incredible opportunity to study abroad in the United Kingdom for 16 weeks—a milestone moment as both a first-generation college student and a first-time traveler overseas. While abroad, she will be studying child development to expand her understanding of youth care from a global perspective. She also looks forward to connecting with current and former foster youth abroad, continuing her commitment to building meaningful communities wherever she goes. Shauneace is currently seeking support to help cover the cost of her Uber trips in London.
