Elijah is the oldest of his siblings and was removed from his parents' care due to severe drug use and domestic violence. As a result, he experiences communication and cognitive delays. Initially, he was placed in a group home, separated from his siblings, but he has recently been moved out of state to live with a relative caregiver. This caregiver is relatively new to parenting and is adjusting from being a single parent of one child to now being a single parent of four, which includes Elijah and his two other siblings.

Elijah is settling into his new space, and it is starting to feel like home. One small thing that would bring him joy and a sense of comfort is a lava lamp—a calming light he can watch as he drifts off to sleep each night.
