A tablet for Chris to stay engaged and regulated
Christopher, 17 years old
Wish submitted by:
NM CYFD - McKinley CountyChris faces challenges in his interactions with others due to being severely autistic. To cope with life, he engages in behaviors such as pacing in circles, rocking back and forth, and shaking his right hand. Chris thrives on having a consistent routine at both school and home. His support team is working diligently to find the right placement for him that meets his special needs. Currently, Chris is living in a crisis shelter, which has been very supportive. They have created a designated space for him where he can pace without disrupting others.
Chris is a determined young guy who loves fixing electronics, whether it's an old TV or setting up a new one. He shows his independence in small ways, like making his favorite pizza in the microwave. However, he struggles to find important numbers on a cell phone in emergencies. A tablet could really help Chris! It would give him a fun and easy way to stay organized and calm while at the shelter. Plus, he could use it to safely store important contacts, giving him more confidence and helping him feel more independent.
