Michael, who prefers to be called Mike, will soon age out of foster care. He has been in care most of his life due to his biological parents' addiction. After living with his maternal grandmother, Mike faced multiple traumas, including addiction to drugs. Despite setbacks, he graduated from high school and enrolled at Montclair State University (MSU) to study Psychology with a minor in Social Work. He is a peer counselor for foster children and aspires to be a Social Worker or Drug and Alcohol Counselor, dedicated to giving back to others who are facing similar challenges as he did. His journey demonstrates not only his commitment to personal healing but also his desire to help others, creating a ripple effect of support in the community.

Mike is not just getting by with his own recovery from addiction; he’s actively helping others find their way out, too. As a dedicated AA sponsor and a passionate speaker at rehabilitation facilities, he shares his own journey of struggle and strength to inspire hope in those still battling their addiction. However, when Mike stands in front of a room full of people eager for change, he often finds himself wearing an ill-fitting sports jacket and worn-out slacks. Despite the powerful messages he delivers, he wishes to honor the tradition of his AA mentors by appearing in a suit that reflects the dignity of his mission. Mike would be thrilled to receive a pair of suit pants to symbolize his transformation. Granting this wish will help Mike walk into every speaking engagement with the confidence, pride, and purpose he deserves.
