Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach CountyKarson was placed in a group home after being separated from his family due to his caregiver's incarceration. He is adjusting to his new year-round school and getting to know the staff and other youth at the group home. Karson is a sociable young man who enjoys talking to people and is interested in computers. He hopes to become a computer engineer in the future.
Karson is an 11th-grade student who is currently behind on his credits. This summer, he enrolled in two classes through Florida Virtual School and is scheduled to take additional virtual courses in the fall as part of his credit recovery plan. Unfortunately, he does not have access to a computer at his group home and has been commuting to the public library to complete his assignments. Having a laptop would make a significant difference, allowing him to work from home with greater consistency and ease. It would provide much-needed support for him to stay on track academically. The laptop would not only help him complete his summer coursework but also be essential for his virtual classes in the fall. This support could truly be life-changing for him.
