Despite these challenges, Amaya takes pride in her perseverance in education and her overall resilience. Looking ahead, she envisions herself graduating from college and beginning her dream career.

Amaya has sensory and noise sensitivities that can often make her feel overwhelmed in loud or chaotic environments. As she prepares to age out of the foster care system and travel, she wants to take control of these challenges. She hopes to have noise-canceling headphones to help her take breaks and recharge her social battery in crowded places.
