Angela is a strong and resilient young woman. As a former foster youth and a single mother, she has faced more than her fair share of challenges. Growing up in foster care made it difficult for her to find stability and establish a strong foundation for adulthood, but she has never let that stop her. With a bold, independent spirit and unwavering dedication to her son, who is on the autism spectrum, Angela has pushed through every obstacle to reach her current position. Although her education has taken longer due to life circumstances, she is now just one semester away from transferring to university. Angela has built a career in case management and hopes to return to this field once her son begins preschool. Creative, intelligent, and resourceful, she enjoys shopping, sharing her story, and doing whatever it takes to support her family and achieve her dreams.

Angela is a resilient single mother who has faced significant mental health challenges stemming from her experiences in the foster care system. One of the ways her anxiety manifests is through blurry vision, which is often triggered by stress, bright lights, and certain movements. These episodes can be overwhelming and, at times, lead to panic attacks. Last year, Angela paid out of pocket for a couple of pairs of prescription glasses to help manage these symptoms. Unfortunately, those glasses are now scratched, and instead of helping, they sometimes worsen her condition. Despite her efforts to practice coping strategies, the lack of clear, reliable vision support continues to impact her daily life and sense of safety. Angela’s Medi-Cal coverage doesn’t fully meet her needs in this area, and she’s hoping someone can help. Having access to new, high-quality glasses would make a meaningful difference in Angela’s ability to manage her symptoms and improve her overall quality of life.
