Groceries for Salena who fell behind after unexpected bills
Salena, 20 years old, VA | 1 DAY WAITING
Wish submitted by:
VA DSS - Chesapeake City CountySalena and her sibling were initially placed in the same foster home, but Salena had to be moved due to some behavioral issues. Since then, she has worked hard to graduate and is doing much better in her new placement. Salena spends time with her sibling, which really helps her. She plans to join the Air Force in the future. Additionally, Salena loves sports and is an excellent volleyball and basketball player.
Salena has been doing well in her new home. She cooks, cleans, and keeps her apartment very tidy. Salena attends community college and works part-time at the local mall. Recently, she encountered an issue that led to unexpected expenses. Although her paycheck was directly deposited, after paying what was owed, her entire check was depleted, leaving her with only $5.75. Salena has applied for and been approved for food assistance benefits, but they will not start until later in August. Having access to food assistance contributes to greater stability and reduces the stress associated with food insecurity, allowing Salena to focus on her education, employment, and independent living. This is wish 2 of 2.
