Ryan is bravely navigating the ups and downs of many challenges in his life. He and his family are living in a motel as they look for a more permanent home, but Ryan keeps a positive outlook on the future. He dreams of joining the military one day, which really motivates him to keep pushing forward. As the youngest of three siblings, Ryan values his family connections a lot. He shares a close bond with his brother and sister, who are always there to support him during these tough times. Alongside managing his schoolwork, Ryan is also focusing on gaining important life skills. He’s learning how to manage his time, budget his resources wisely, and even whip up some simple meals. These skills will be super helpful as he grows into adulthood and works towards becoming independent.

Ryan is starting to get excited for school and wants a colorful backpack that matches his lively personality. However, his family is facing homelessness and can’t afford the bag that he wants. Ryan has had health issues over the years, making him shorter than many of his peers. Unfortunately, he sometimes finds himself bullied because of his struggles. He wants this year to be different and hopes to get this fantastic new backpack so he can feel confident when he walks into school!
