Rome is a former foster youth who is a determined and hard-working young father and will soon graduate from a certified carpentry training program, becoming the first graduate of the Academy Stay housing and support program for former foster youth. Despite aging out of care without family or resources, Rome has consistently shown up with humility, volunteering to help with maintenance projects and mentoring younger students in our community. He’s soft-spoken, respectful, and leads by example.

As Rome steps into his first apprenticeship, he is requesting a circular saw that will enable him to make precise cuts on framing lumber and job site materials. He’s excited to move from the classroom to hands-on work in residential construction, and having his own saw means one less barrier to getting started. Having his own saw not only boosts his confidence but also symbolizes his commitment to mastering the trade he is passionate about.
