Alayiah is a determined young woman who has spent most of her life in foster care. She was separated from her siblings and parents when she was just 12 years old and no longer has a relationship with them. Essentially, she is on her own. She chose to remain in care to complete her education and to benefit from the financial assistance our state offers for housing. Alayiah is learning independent living skills through several specialized programs. She is a strong-willed hard worker who makes a diligent effort to take care of her own needs. Art is her favorite pastime and serves as her therapy. Recently, she has taken great care to create a beautiful dream catcher to hang over her baby's crib. Her mantra for her baby's sleeping area is, "Bad dreams, bad dreams, go away. Good dreams, good dreams, here to stay."

Alayiah wishes for a stroller for her new baby boy, which would be a tremendous help. She lives close enough to her future babysitter that she would be able to walk her son to their home once she returns to work. Additionally, Alayiah hopes to introduce her son to the outdoors by taking him for safe walks in a nearby park. She is excited to meet her son and take him on outings, and having a stroller would be greatly appreciated. Although Alayiah has been able to provide most of the necessities for her son through her work, she still needs a few items. Owning a stroller would make a significant difference in their lives. Alayiah organized her own baby shower, but only three of her friends were able to attend. Despite her disappointment, she remained grateful for all the gifts she received. This stroller is a crucial item on her wish list, but it is still beyond her budget. Having it would greatly benefit both her and her son!
