Evelin moved to the United States from Guatemala when she was 10 years old, accompanying her father, who sought a better life for their family. As the oldest child, Evelin's father brought her along, hoping that one day the entire family would reunite and live the American Dream. However, when Evelin turned 15, her father left her alone in an apartment shared with other adult men, putting her in a dangerous situation. After experiencing an assault and due to neglect and the unsafe environment created by her father, Evelin entered the foster care system. Unfortunately, her father never reunited with her, and she was placed in a foster home. Despite these challenges, Evelin remains positive and is attending junior college with the goal of becoming a Registered Nurse.

Evelin recently tried on a pair of cute clogs at the store and instantly fell in love with them. She has never owned a pair before, and she feels that having a pair would make her feel special and included, especially since all her foster sisters already have their own. Owning a pair would help her feel a sense of belonging within her family.
