A comfy chair for Gracie to use in her bedroom

Gracie, 16 years old, OR

Gracie witnessed domestic violence between her mother and her mother's boyfriend, who was arrested in front of her. She also observed drug use in the home. Her father was arrested for drug-related activities when she was just two years old. The house was often dirty and poorly maintained. When Gracie was four, she was removed from her home and placed with her grandparents. She spent a year in their care while her mother worked on her addiction and attended parenting classes. After that time, Gracie was returned to her mother but was abandoned again, leading her to live with her paternal grandparents. Gracie has a history of depression and self-harm, which she is addressing through counseling. She also struggles with severe abandonment issues that impact her daily life. Despite these challenges, Gracie loves sports, particularly volleyball and softball. Additionally, she has a passion for cosmetology and is considering it as a career option after she finishes high school.

Gracie would like to have a chair for her friends to use when they visit. She wants to ensure they have a comfortable place to sit instead of crowding her bed or sitting on the floor. Keeping her bed area free from friends sitting on it is important to her. After all, her bed is her personal space, and she wants to maintain that.

"She got her chair delivered yesterday afternoon. She was so excited to see that it was for her. She carried the box up to her room, put it together and just sat there. She is so grateful and wanted to thank everyone that made this happen for her. I hope everyone involved knows how much this means to her. She loves the color, the comfort(even though she did mention that this is for her friends to sit in and no more on her bed) and how soft it is. She put it by her window so I think she will sit and read in it more than she thinks. Thank you to everyone, including you, for putting a smile on this sweet girl's face. "
