Simon was removed from the care of both of his parents. His father was incarcerated, and his mother struggled with drug misuse. During his time with her, Simon faced neglect; he often lacked food and clothing and was at risk of having the electricity turned off. Despite these challenges, Simon has been thriving in his current home. He is actively involved in sports and helps his grandparents with household chores. Both parents were given opportunities to reunite with him and visit, but they have not followed through on these chances.

Simon is a humble boy who doesn’t ask for much. He lives with his grandparents, who are attentive and provide him with what he needs. As a growing young man, it's not always possible for them to buy him shoes regularly, especially a pair that he truly wants. Simon would really appreciate a new pair of shoes that he chose himself as a reward for all his accomplishments.
