Raised by her grandmother before entering the foster care system as a teenager, Mila remains a devoted, steady anchor for her brother, who has low-functioning autism. Since aging out of foster care, she has secured her own apartment and is focused on personal growth. Determined to achieve stability, Mila is working toward earning her GED with plans to pursue a nursing career. Creative and multitalented, she enjoys reading, park walks, making jewelry, songwriting, singing, and photography, with dreams of one day exploring acting and modeling.

Mila has had a tough journey in life. She’s been working hard in therapy to heal from her past. Growing up, she was separated from her only sibling, who lives in a group home because of his disabilities, and she spent several years in a group home herself before aging out. It hasn’t been easy for her to be the big sister, especially without knowing her dad and having a mom who has struggled with addiction. Life has often felt lonely for both Mila and her brother. Right now, she works as a per diem employee, which means her income isn’t always steady. But Mila is determined to make a better future for herself by earning her GED so she can find a stable job. Recently, she found a pair of unique shoes that she really loves. They match her style perfectly and make her feel good. Being able to open this gift on Christmas day would definitely brighten her smile. Mila hopes these shoes will boost her confidence and last her a long time.
