Ruby’s love for the outdoors is matched only by her passion for science and her excitement to explore the wonders of the world. Whether she's hiking with her mom and brother or discovering something new about nature, Ruby's energy and excitement are contagious. She has a gift for making new friends with her warm smile and genuine kindness. Despite experiencing trauma from violence as a family, Ruby and her loved ones are on a brave and hopeful journey of healing together. Ruby would like a tablet to stay connected with her cabin group through weekly virtual small group meetings. Transportation is a barrier for her to attend these small groups regularly, so having a tablet removes that obstacle and allows her to participate in Pathways Small Group. The girls share experiences just as if they were together in person. Each week, they have the opportunity to express their Rose, Thorn, and Bud—sharing something positive in their lives, something that wasn't so great, and something they are looking forward to. They also read books together with their mentors to strengthen their skills while building relationships and fostering a sense of belonging. Plus, the tablet serves as a valuable tool for tutoring when she needs extra support in school.
