Jelani, also known as Jay, is currently living in a foster home separate from his biological siblings. He regularly keeps in touch with his family and often thinks about them. He loves to read and aspires to become a journalist in the future. In school, Jelani has many friends, is a member of the choir, and actively takes on leadership roles whenever possible.

Jay is an artsy teenager who is exploring new hobbies. Jay has experienced a lot of trauma in his life and has learned that music is a helpful coping skill. Jay showed an interest in music at a young age and participated in the choir at his school and church. Now that he is older, he wants to learn how to play the guitar and is asking for an acoustic guitar for Christmas.
