Cruz is a very smart, resilient, and determined young man who arrived in the US alone. Cruz is very respectful toward his foster parents and is determined to become important in the US and build a well-paying career so he can eventually help his mother, who is still in Mexico. Cruz has lacked a childhood and is struggling to learn how.

Cruz recently shared with his CSW that a friend told him about going back to school shopping and his parents allowed him to choose so much clothes and shoes. Cruz wishes to have the same ability. Cruz has never gone shopping for himself, Cruz has had to use hand me down clothes and wishes to know the feeling of being able to pick clothes and shoes out for himself.
