Laylani has endured more trauma than any child should have to, yet she still maintains a beautiful, bubbly spirit and a creativity that impresses everyone around her. She is a true girly girl who loves sparkles, crafts, and expressing herself through art. She is also incredibly imaginative and enjoys making “inventions,” doing science experiments, and creating anything with her hands. She thrives outdoors—riding her bike, exploring nature, and visiting adventure parks where she can climb, run, and release her energy. Unfortunately, her bike recently broke, which has been hard for her because it was one of her favorite things and a way for her to relax and cope. We’ve also found that video games help her unwind on tougher days, but she only has one game to play right now. On top of everything she’s already been through, we are now facing an unexpected hardship. Our landlord had to sell the home we were renting, and we suddenly found ourselves without a permanent place to live. We’re currently staying in a relative’s basement, which has been a tough adjustment for my granddaughter. The instability and change in her environment have been overwhelming for her, and I can see how much she misses having her own space and a sense of normalcy. Despite these challenges, she continues to show resilience, kindness, and a desire to learn and grow. A gift from One Simple Wish would mean more than just a fun item— it would bring her comfort, stability, and joy during this difficult time. It would remind her that she is seen, supported, and deserving of good things, even amidst so much loss and change.
