Carmen was recently placed into foster care along with four siblings. Before entering care, her family experienced a sudden eviction, leaving them unable to bring any of their belongings with them. She has endured significant trauma and was separated from three of her siblings, though she is currently placed with one sibling in a nurturing foster home. Despite these challenges, Carmen’s caregiver describes her as a sweet, caring child who continues to show kindness and resilience. She enjoys playing with age-appropriate toys and finding comfort in simple, joyful activities.

Carmen has endured more hardship this year than any child should. After her family was suddenly evicted, she lost nearly all of her belongings. Shortly after, she was removed from her parents and separated from most of her siblings, carrying the weight of that trauma with her. Despite everything, Carmen continues to show kindness and resilience. A simple gift like a Barbie doll would mean the world to her. Before entering foster care, she had very few toys, and having a Barbie of her own would give her comfort, joy, and a sense of stability during a time when so much had been out of her control. It’s a small treasure that she could share with her sister and foster sisters, helping her feel connected and cared for.
