A tablet for Xavier to fit in with his friends
Xavier, 13 years old, IN |

CASA IN - Knox CountyXavier is a bright, funny, and outgoing child who is thriving in the care of his grandparents after being removed from his home due to neglect and physical abuse. He loves interacting with his peers and has a natural sense of humor, often using jokes and laughter as a healthy coping skill.
Xavier did have a table, but it was lost when he had to move from his home. That was a really hard time for him, and losing something that he valued made it even harder. He would love a new tablet because it helps him feel connected to his friends and included in the same things other kids his age enjoy. When kids talk about games they play, videos they watch, or things they learn on their tablets, he wants to be able to join in and feel like he belongs too. Having a tablet makes him feel “normal,” like he’s just another kid doing what other kids do. He's already shown that he can use a tablet responsibly and in a good way. He uses it to learn, relax, and have fun in healthy ways. Having one again would help him feel comfortable, confident, and more like himself. Familiar things like this give him comfort and help him adjust when big changes happen. Most of all, a tablet would help him feel like he fits in and that he matters.
