Recreational center membership for 15 y/o Javon who has a passion for working out and is looking to enlist after graduating high school

Posted Oct 5, 2016

Javon would like a membership to the local rec center so that he can continue to work out with his foster brothers and foster family. The rec center also offers members discounted rates on many classes that Javon loves. Last year the local county paid for the membership with a government grant; however, these grant funds have been allocated elsewhere this year. Bennett is a small farming town of 2000. Activities and resources for teens are especially limited. Javon has found a passion in working out and it has helped him become motivated about his future. The rec center membership allows him to have a positive place to go with his foster brothers for fun. Javon would be thrilled if this wish were granted, and it would really help him stay motivated for the future.

Javon is 22 years old and lives in CO

Javon is a 15 y/o young man and has grown up in the foster care. At 2 y/o, he was placed in care, while mom struggled to care for her self and several siblings. He started out life going from placement to placement. The frequent change in placements when he was young was sometimes due to Jovan's struggles and sometimes due to the foster home not being a good fit to meet his needs. Jovan would like to be adopted and is hoping to meet his new family one day. This has been a long road for Jovan. He is in a very good place mentally and physically to take on the world. Jovan has been with his current foster family going on 3 years. He went from boy to young man during this time. With his current family, he has been working on the farm and learning new skills. He has built up a lot of strength due to hard work. In school Jovan took every conditioning class he could and has pushed his body to be physically stronger than before. He has taken conditioning class at school so often, that he is limited in the number of times he is allowed to take it again before he graduates. After graduation, he would like to go into the military. He is interested in both the Army and the Marines. His foster parents say Jovan's passion for working out is helping Jovan keep his strength and goals moving forward. Jovan has been working out with two very strong men and foster brothers. He loves competition and is willing to do what it takes to stay the best.
