NM CYFD - Bernalillo CountyMikha is a thoughtful young lady who aged out of foster care and has faced significant challenges with her mental health. Despite these struggles, she works hard to overcome obstacles and achieve her goals. While she has an interest in veterinary medicine, she has not yet decided on a specific career path. Mikha is always respectful, funny, and caring. She views her body as a canvas for her creative tattoo artwork and designs. As she continues to grow and explore her interests, she is someone to watch as she discovers what truly matters to her.
Mikha has recently transitioned out of the system, and she’s feeling overwhelmed by the challenges of adult life. As she begins to explore her options, she knows she needs to find a way to support herself. However, she’s already facing barriers; for instance, while applying for jobs is a step in the right direction, it becomes difficult when you don’t have a reliable phone for potential employers to reach you. At the moment, she’s borrowing a family member's phone when necessary, but it’s not always available. Having her own phone would significantly ease the job search process and help her stay in touch with her caseworker, allowing her to access the benefits she's entitled to.
