After aging out of the foster care system, Akella has found ways to enjoy her free time. She loves listening to gospel, R&B, and hip-hop music, as well as watching reality shows, comedies, and dramas on TV. Akella also enjoys shopping for various items and finds pleasure in couponing. She remains actively involved with Silver Lining Mentoring as an alumni mentee, aiming to give back to younger mentees and inspire positive change through her experiences.

After aging out of the foster care system, Akella is determined to build a better future for herself. She is actively working to gain skills and develop her career, but she faces the challenge of making ends meet. Amid these difficulties, she is at risk of losing her apartment, a place that provides her with stability and hope. She is requesting financial assistance to pay her rent. Granting this wish will allow Akella to focus on her journey toward independence without the worry of losing her home. Akella had lost her job late last year but is now employed again- during her time of unemployment, her rent payments were backlogged. She's working to budget her current paycheck to pay both her monthly rent and pay down on her back rent, but additional funding to get some of the back rent taken care of would be a huge help to her.
