Strength Based Community Change (SBCC)Charlotte’s life has been shaped by resilience, strength, and perseverance through profound personal challenges. One of the most defining moments of her journey was losing her vision, which drastically changed how she experiences the world. Adjusting to life with vision loss required patience, courage, and a complete shift in independence, self-trust, and emotional strength. Her time in foster care also brought its own emotional challenges. Moving between different environments without consistent stability pushed Charlotte to grow up quickly and become adaptable and self-reliant. These experiences strengthened her emotional awareness, empathy, and survival skills, even as she continued learning what stability and support can look like. Charlotte lives with depression and ADHD, which means she works daily to manage emotional highs and lows, mental fatigue, and challenges with focus. Despite this, she remains determined, self-aware, and committed to showing up for her life. She continues to push forward with hope, grounding herself through routines, reflection, and personal growth. Through vision loss, foster care, depression, and ADHD, Charlotte has developed resilience, empathy, and inner strength. Her story is not defined by trauma, but by the courage it took to survive and the determination she shows every day as she continues moving forward.
Due to the recent loss of her vision, music is one of Charlotte’s most important coping tools and sources of comfort. Bruno Mars is her favorite artist, and his music helps her feel calm, energized, and emotionally uplifted, reminding her that joy, love, and healing are always possible. Attending a Bruno Mars concert would give Charlotte a rare opportunity to experience joy, connection, and emotional release in a way she cannot afford for herself. Receiving these tickets would be a meaningful and affirming experience that supports her emotional well-being and reminds her she is worthy of joy.
