Aubrey has been in foster care since she was 2 years old due to her parents abandoning her. Recently, she faced another setback when her aunt, who had been her caregiver since she was a toddler, also abandoned her. Now in a new foster home, Aubrey holds onto the hope that she can one day take care of herself and live independently. She is particularly interested in joining the military, believing it offers her the best opportunity to become successful and develop strength as an individual. In addition to her aspirations, Aubrey has a passion for the arts. Music serves as her therapy, providing an escape from the stressors she faces in life.

Aubrey began the spring semester but lacks sufficient funds to purchase the required textbook for her History class, "Accessible American History" by Paul Swendson. While the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) can provide assistance, the process may take several months to receive a check. Unfortunately, this delay could cause Aubrey to fall behind academically.
