Lewis is a remarkable young man. He entered foster care at the age of ten and moved through many different placements and group homes before aging out at eighteen. He has never had family support and has had to navigate life on his own since leaving the system. He has experienced homelessness and struggled to meet his basic needs, yet he continues to show resilience and determination. Throughout his journey, he has faced numerous challenges; however, he maintains a positive attitude and remains committed to achieving his goals.

For Lewis, after aging out of foster care, having a place of his own represents stability and a true fresh start. While a dresser may seem like a simple item, it would mean so much more to him. It would give him a way to organize his clothes and belongings and make his apartment feel less empty. For someone who has moved from place to place and rarely had control over his surroundings, being able to choose something for his own space is empowering. It’s a small but meaningful step in creating a home that feels stable, comfortable, and truly his.
