Crystal is a determined young woman who entered the foster system at the age of 8 due to her father’s deportation and her mother’s mental instability, which left her unable to care for her children. After several years in the foster system, she thought she would have a second chance at having a family when she and her brother were adopted at 10. Unfortunately, her adoptive father was sexually abusive. After speaking out and not being believed, she found the courage to confide in a trusted adult, which led to her re-entering the foster system at 16. While living in group homes for the rest of her childhood, Crystal developed the resilience and outspoken personality that she takes pride in today. When she is not studying, working at Amazon, or taking care of her baby, she enjoys playing volleyball and softball, as well as watching true crime mysteries and trying to solve them before each episode ends. Crystal is always reliable and caring, and she demonstrates her go-getter attitude in all aspects of her life.

Crystal has started classes at American Career College, embarking on her journey to become a nurse. In order to thrive in her studies, she is in need of a computer. Having spent much of her life in foster care, her access to technology has always been limited and closely monitored, typically confined to older, shared devices. Owning a MacBook would not only significantly aid her educational goals but also symbolize a new chapter in her life. For Crystal, having a MacBook would represent more than just a tool for learning; it would serve as a status symbol, reflecting a newfound independence and achievement after years of relying on shared and borrowed technology.
