A laptop for Maggie who is working toward creating a stable future
Maggie Mott, 18 years old, NE

Central Plains Center for ServicesMaggie is a determined college student who spent some of her most impressionable years in foster care. During that time, family relationships were strained, and many of the opportunities that other young people often rely on for support and stability were not always available to her. Despite these challenges, Maggie has remained focused on creating a better future for herself through education.
With the support of her independent living coach, Maggie applied for financial aid and scholarships and enrolled at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She is currently taking a full course load and hopes to transfer into a dental hygiene program in the future. Recently, Maggie’s laptop stopped working. Like most college students today, nearly all of her coursework, assignments, and communication with professors takes place online. Without a reliable computer, keeping up with her classes has become extremely difficult. Because Maggie does not have the financial safety net that many students can rely on, replacing her laptop is a significant barrier. Receiving a new laptop would allow her to stay engaged in her coursework and continue working toward the stable and independent future she has worked so hard to build.
