Halima is a confident and resilient young woman who continues to demonstrate determination in achieving her goals. While her support circle is small, she has built a strong and meaningful relationship with her CASA, who has been a consistent source of encouragement. As a teenager, Halima lived in a group home before transitioning into Extended Foster Care housing, where she worked diligently toward her personal and educational goals. In July 2025, she proudly earned her GED, a milestone that reflects her perseverance and commitment to her future. Halima is enrolled part-time at a community college in San Diego, balancing her academic pursuits with career development. She is working closely with a job coach to secure employment and is also in the process of becoming a mentor for youth who have experienced similar life challenges—further demonstrating her drive to give back and support others. In her free time, Halima enjoys relaxing at home and appreciates good food, which brings her comfort and joy.

Halima has been going through a tough time since a serious accident in October 2025. Because of the accident, she now uses a wheelchair and is working hard in physical therapy to walk again. She also needs to have multiple surgeries on her leg to help her recover. Despite these challenges, Halima is trying to stay positive and focused on healing. One way she copes with the struggles is by watching her favorite movies and shows. Having a TV has really helped her mental health, giving her comfort and a sense of normalcy as she spends a lot of time resting. Unfortunately, while she was moving around her room in her wheelchair, she accidentally bumped into her TV stand, causing the TV to fall and crack. This was really disappointing for her, as it took away one of her main sources of comfort during this difficult time. Halima hopes to get another TV so she can continue enjoying her shows. Watching them again would help lift her spirits and take her mind off the challenges she faces every day.
