Arizona's Children AssociationJulia has been in foster care for many years. She has lived in two group homes and is now with a foster mom who wants to adopt her. Despite all the changes in her life, Julia has shown a lot of strength and resilience. She is known for her kindness and is very friendly. Julia cares deeply about her family and friends, always showing concern for others. She's good at understanding how people feel, which shows her empathy. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball, making art, listening to music, and taking naps. Julia also likes to spend some time alone to recharge. One of her favorite self-care activities is fixing her eyelashes. What makes Julia special is her big heart, her ability to care for others, and her emotional strength, which shines through even after all the tough times she has faced.
Julia is asking for an electric scooter because it would have a very positive and significant impact on her daily life. Currently, her volleyball practices and games are located 2.8 miles from her home, which presents a major transportation challenge. On many occasions, her foster mother is still at work during practice hours; as a result, Julia has sometimes missed important practices—despite her deep commitment to and love for the sport. Volleyball is an activity that she not only enjoys but that also helps her stay active, focused, and connected with her teammates. Having an electric scooter would provide her with independence, safety, and the opportunity to arrive on time for her practices and games, even when no adult is available to transport her. This mode of transportation would allow her to continue participating consistently in volleyball, thereby strengthening her confidence, discipline, and emotional well-being.
