In 2025, Laura joined Ascentria's Unaccompanied Children program. Originally from Guatemala, she was fortunate enough to reunite with her sister. Laura has worked diligently with her tutor and foster family, becoming fluent in English and nearly reaching grade level in mathematics. Aside from her academic goals, Laura enjoys playing volleyball and exploring the world.

Laura has worked tremendously hard to learn English since arriving in the U.S. With the support of her foster family, she has an exciting opportunity to attend an English Language Immersion 4-week summer camp this summer! While her foster family is covering a chunk of the cost, this amount will help get them to the full total. This summer program will not only provide her the opportunity to meet other students like her from all over the world, but also to fully close her education gap and begin working on college prep. In addition to her academic ambitions, Laura also really enjoys playing volleyball and seeing the world. Her schedule at this summer program includes a daily volleyball program and the opportunity to go on field trips and see famous historical sites in Massachusetts!
