Tracy is originally from Dallas, Texas, and has spent the past year in Houston at Taylor Recovery. At the end of 2024, she lost everything, including her relationship with her family, due to substance use. She has not spoken to her children in over a year and a half. Throughout this time, her dog, Roxie, has remained by her side with support from Dogs Matter. Tracy often says that while she once believed she rescued Roxie, it is Roxie who is now helping to rescue her. Without her, Tracy believes she would never have found the support of Dogs Matter or Taylor Recovery. Her recovery journey has been challenging, but she is committed to moving forward. She has worked diligently with her counselor using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and is beginning to see and feel meaningful changes in herself. Tracy is hopeful about her future and looks forward to the possibility of reuniting with her children by demonstrating the growth she has achieved. More importantly, she is focused on becoming the person and mother she wants to be again, and with continued support, she is making steady progress toward that goal.

Tracy is preparing for the next step in her recovery journey and is looking forward to living independently again. While stepping out on her own is outside of her comfort zone, she is courageously asking for support as she works to rebuild her life. As she continues to grow her confidence, Tracy is actively searching for employment and taking meaningful steps toward self-sufficiency. One of the biggest challenges she faces is having consistent access to the tools needed for job searching and interview preparation. A laptop would make a significant difference in Tracy’s progress. It would allow her to search and apply for jobs more efficiently, practice and improve her interview skills, and access important resources that support her continued growth and stability. With the right support, Tracy is committed to building a strong, independent future, and this resource would be an important step in helping her achieve that goal.
