VA DSS - Chesapeake City CountyShawn was placed into foster care after being missing for over six months. He left the home he was living in due to physical and emotional abuse. Shawn loves playing sports and hopes to attend UCLA one day to play basketball. Initially, he was hesitant about entering foster care because he was afraid of being placed in a home with strangers. However, Shawn has settled down and formed a connection with his foster parent. He is back in school and is working hard to catch up on his grades.
Shawn is really passionate about soccer and just received some fantastic news—he was selected to play in the summer league! After trying out for over a year, making the team has him over the moon with excitement. On top of that, he recently mentioned that he needs a new skateboard, as the one he currently has is pretty worn out. Shawn rides his skateboard every day, using it as his main mode of transportation. Although he works part-time and is saving up to buy a new skateboard, it’s been a challenge for him. Getting some help with this would really lift his spirits, especially since he often feels alone and without many resources.
