Marcus entered the foster care system as a newborn and aged out without ever being adopted. Throughout his time as a foster youth, he changed homes frequently and nearly faced homelessness when he transitioned out of the system. He realized that his passion for education was the key to achieving the life he wanted, and he is now attending the University of California as a Psychology major. Marcus enjoys spending time in nature, working out, and playing video games. He also has a beloved cat named Kiwi. Marcus aspires to return to his community and help others who have had similar experiences as they navigate life's challenges. His vibrant energy positively impacts everyone around him.

Marcus has always been a movie fanatic. During his time in care, movies weren’t just entertainment—they were his escape from an ever-changing world, a place where he could find consistency and comfort. Now at UCR, that hasn’t changed. Movies are still his safe space, a way to unwind, reset, and block out the noise when life feels overwhelming. A surround sound system would transform that experience, allowing Marcus to fully immerse himself in the stories that have always grounded him. It would turn his space into a true refuge—where the outside world fades away and he can feel calm, focused, and at home.
