Christyona is an awesome young lady placed in foster care without her older sibling. Christyona loves school. She misses her older sibling but has not allowed her disappointments to make her unfocused on her goal of becoming a doctor. Christyona loves to play softball, bake homemade cookies, make tie-dyed shirts, and write songs. She loves animals and has a pet hamster.

Christyona was recently placed in a residential setting after having a difficult emotional moment on Mother’s Day. She is stable now and working through her emotions and will likely remain in the placement for 3–6 months. She loves to draw and color, and she often uses art to help herself feel calm when she becomes overwhelmed. She has asked for a coloring book set to help her continue using this coping skill. Christyona does not have family support and relies on the agency for help. Providing her with coloring books and markers would support her emotional regulation and remind her that she is not alone and that people care about her.
