High Road School of Bucyrus

Blaze is no longer living with his mom and is currently enrolled in a highly specialized school that supports students with disabilities and significant behavioral needs. He also has strong sensory needs. Blaze is a funny and relatable young person who enjoys listening to music and making others laugh with his jokes. He enjoys connecting with both peers and adults in positive ways. He has experienced a great deal of trauma in his early life. He is now in a more stable environment where his needs can be better supported and he can continue to grow.

Blaze has significant sensory needs, and his family has created a sensory room in their home to help support him. A sensory couch would give him a safe place to crash, jump, roll, and engage in the sensory activities he seeks. Blaze is especially drawn to the specific fabric this couch is made from and frequently seeks it out for comfort and regulation. This sensory couch would provide the deep pressure input and heavy work activities that help Blaze regulate his emotions and body in a safe environment. Having a designated space for full-body sensory seeking can reduce the likelihood of him crashing into furniture or walls, helping to prevent potential injuries. It would also create opportunities for Blaze to connect with trusted caregivers. After experiencing significant trauma in his life, having a safe, comforting space to share with supportive adults can help strengthen positive relationships and build a sense of security.
