Christian is currently in the department’s custody and has Type 1 diabetes. He has struggled to manage his diabetes since he was first diagnosed at age 11. It has been especially difficult for him to stay consistent with his care while adjusting to a new placement away from his twin brother. His twin brother played a big role in helping him manage his diabetes and encouraging him when he felt discouraged. The team continues to work with Christian to find ways to support him in managing his diabetes and improving his overall quality of life.

Christian has been doing really well in his foster home. He has been learning to manage his diabetes and is getting better at taking his medication and watching his food intake. In his free time, Christian enjoys playing video games. Right now, he doesn’t have a device where he can play with his friends and sibling, which he misses. He shared that gaming helps him calm down and also gives him a way to stay connected with his family and friends. He would really love to have this computer monitor so he can enjoy gaming again and stay connected with the people he cares about.
